Title: Elmer "Trigger" Burke

Description: Elmer "Trigger" Burke (1917-1958), center, American killer-for-hire, a product of New York's Hell's Kitchen, who served time in Elmira Reformatory before volunteering for service in World War II, where, as a soldier wielding a submachine gun, stormed a nest of German troops, killing eight of them, and had to be restrained by an officer from pumping more bullets into the dead bodies, so was this man's bloodlust, which he exercised following the war as a free-lance underworld hired killer, charging $1,000 to murder anyone; he killed at least a half dozen persons before he was convicted of shooting to death Edward Walsh and was executed in Sing Sing's electric chair on January 9, 1958, his final request to the warden being that his scrapbook containing 144 clippings about his many killings be preserved "for history's sake."
