Description: Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. (Arthur Meier Schlesinger, Jr.; Arthur Bancroft Schlesinger; October 15, 1917-February 28, 2007), shown while serving in the OSS in 1944. He was a U.S. historian, social critic and intelligence officer in WWII. Schlesinger, who won the Pulitzer Prize for his work about the Kennedys, was a political adviser to both President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. From 1943 to 1945, Schlesinger served as a political analyst for OSS (Office of Strategic Services), serving in a spy ring in liberated Paris in the winter of 1944. OSS was a U.S. espionage and intelligence organization that worked behind enemy lines in Europe and in the Pacific during WWII. The OSS later became the CIA.
