Description: Adolf Eichmann (Otto Adolf Eichmann; 1906-1962), SS Colonel who worked directly under SS leader Reinhard Heydrich and who organized the so-called "final solution" for Heydrich, the systematic shipment of Jews to Nazi concentration and death camps, which were operated by the SS; Eichmann escaped punishment following the war, but was tracked down and captured by Mossad (Israeli intelligence) agents in Buenos Aires and taken to Israel where he was tried and convicted of war crimes; he was executed by hanging at the Israeli prison at Ramla on May 31, 1962; Eichmann was a high ranking officer of the elite SS military organization that was not controlled by the German Army's high command, but by SS leader Heinrich Himmler, its members considered Hitler's personal bodyguards - Hitler called them his "iron youth" all SS members followed Himmler's strict racist codes based upon Aryan supremacy and the dedicated persecution of Jews and other minorities thought by the Nazis to be "inferior and unclean" the Waffen-SS units fought at fronts in all theaters of the war and being Nazi fanatics were used as shock troops, while other SS units served as police and guards at German concentration or death camps, religiously murdering millions of people;
