Title: Andrew Mellon

Description: Andrew Mellon (Andrew William Mellon; March 24, 1855-August 27, 1937), American banker, industrialist, philanthropist, art collector and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury (1921-1932); Mellon, standing second from left, is shown with his brother Richard B. Mellon (Richard Beatty Mellon; March 19, 1858-December 1933), standing second from right as both receive medals for their public services; Andrew and Richard Mellon were arch conservatives and two of the wealthiest persons in America; Richard Mellon told a U.S. Senate Committee in 1925 that "you could not run a coal company without machine guns" when explaining how he broke a strike at one of the Mellon coal mine operations in Pennsylvania; dry and humorless as the Mellons were, just before Richard died in 1933, he asked his brother Andrew to come to his deathbed and lean close to him, placing his hand on Andrew's shoulder, whispering "last tag" and then dying, making his wealthy brother permanently "it"
