Description: Charles Albert Levine (1897-1991), held aloft at left, American businessman (who became a millionaire at age thirty by selling war materials, chiefly shell casings, unused from the Great War, 1914-1918), and who was the first passenger aboard the transatlantic flight piloted by Clarence Chamberlain (Clarence Duncan Chamberlain; 1893-1976), held aloft at right, American pilot and mechanic, who was the second aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic (after Charles A. Lindbergh two weeks earlier) and the first to carry a passenger; Chamberlain and Levine (who owned the Bellanca monoplane Chamberlain piloted) flew from Roosevelt Field, Long Island, New York to Germany, landing forty-three miles short of their goal, Berlin, when their plane ran out of gas, on June 4-6, 1927, a distance of 3,911 miles in forty-two hours and thirty-one minutes; aircraft; airplanes; aviation; aviators; flights;
