Description: Nan Britton (1896-1991), shown in 1920, American author and mistress to Warren G. Harding (Warren Gamaliel Harding; 1865-1923), American editor, politician and 29th President of the U.S.; Britton, whose father knew Harding in Ohio when he was a newspaper editor and publisher and fledgling politician, had a crush on Harding in 1910, and, by 1917, had become Harding's mistress, accompanying him on his political jaunts where he registered her at hotels as his "niece" in 1919, according to Britton, she gave birth to a girl that had been sired by Harding, naming her Elizabeth Ann Christian, and that she continued her affair with Harding when he was President, visiting him at the White House, where they had sexual relations in a cloak room off the Oval Office; three years after Harding's death and that of Harding's wife, Florence, Britton published a sensational book entitled The President's Daughter, an under-the-counter best seller in which she exposed her secret relationship with Harding and the child born from that affair;
