Description: Only one of the soldiers in the photo of the battle for Mount Aragon during the winter of 1936 is fortunate enough to have a helmet, during the Spanish Civil War (July 17, 1936-April 1, 1939); the war became a bloody prelude to World War II, a battleground test of might between the Communist Soviet Union and Fascist states of Italy and Germany, introducing new tank warfare tactics and terror bombing of cities that were employed soon afterward in World War II; American author Ernest Hemingway (Ernest Miller Hemingway; July 21, 1899-July 2, 1961) dramatized his experiences in the Spanish Civil War in his 1940 novel, For Whom the Bell Tolls, which was made into a motion picture (1943 U.S. film);
